I'm not saying we aren't effected by it, of course we are, and will always be due to the nature of how this country works with supplying drugs. All countries for that matter, but, that is another topic.
What I mean is, it is hitting them just like it did us in the 70's. Heroin hit blacks, and latins big time, and was a major reason HIV surged a few years are later. There used to be fiends all over NYC. Even in the 80's that dope fukked up Harlem. It hit Philly, and Baltimore hard too. Those areas are still dealing with the problem, with Baltimore getting a little better, but I see a lot white heroin addicts there too, same with philly. With heroin use, including opiate pills, its mostly whites. That's why I wrote the tables have turned.

Heroin Users in U.S. 90% White, Live Outside Urban Areas
May 29 (Bloomberg) -- The image of the heroin user is changing, according to researchers who say the great majority are now white men and women who mostly live outside the cities.
Their study, published in JAMA Psychiatry, tracked data from almost 2,800 heroin users and found that first-time users are now generally older than those who began taking the drug in the 1960s. About 90 percent are white, according to the study, and 75 percent now live in non-urban areas.

NJ i hear is even worse and has been worse. it aint just white people. Smack is to Puerto Ricans what ALcohol is to native americans. Ive barely ever seen a white dopehead, unless he or she was with a bunch of ricans. Seen alot of young blacks on it too. they snorting it, cheaper than the other snort i guess i dunno. but one thing is for sure, itd deadly and back with a mike tyson in his prime punch out in the boogie down bronx.
