The NFL is investigating allegations connecting Peyton Manning and human growth hormone, a league spokesman says.
The Associated Press said the probe isn’t expected to be finished until after Super Bowl 50, which could be Manning’s final game.
In December, Al Jazeera reported that Manning’s wife, Ashley, received HGH from a clinic in Indianapolis, where the Mannings lived at the time. Peyton Manning vehemently denied using or receiving HGH.
Spokesman Brian McCarthy told AP that the league is reviewing records, conducting interviews and working with other agencies. McCarthy did not specify what other agencies might be part of the investigation.
ESPN reported that the NFL declined to cooperate with Major League Baseball and the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency in their joint investigation of the Al Jazeera report that also named MLB players.
On Tuesday evening, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello denied the claim.
“This is wrong,” Aiello said on Twitter, linking to the ESPN story. “NFL has worked with USADA & MLB from the start.”
