why not just limit ALL CONTRACTS to 1 year deals (you can franchise a guy up to 2 times) and make all contracts guaranteed for that year. Raise the cap to 400 million and designate one player salary to not count against the cap. For example if the chiefs give mahomes 70 million a year his number does not count against the cap. This means everyone can eat

They already are one year deals...for the owners. You can be cut at any time. They aren't trying to give players that kind of freedom. They still want to control them for the life of the deal. The whole reason we have a cap is because owners ain't tryna spend that kind of money (although they could easily afford it). Owners don't care about everyone eating.

you know the real irony...

if all these rank and file people really feel like it is every man for themselves then they should be excluded from the union and they can go negotiate terms for themselves

or rather you dont get union membership until you have been on an NFL roster for x years.....does that sound harsh? Yes....it aint no harsher than signing bad deals every CBA

That would give Union players even less leverage :dwillhuh:

Half the league would not be beholden to a Union strike. It would be easier for the league to continue if they already have half the players and only have to replace the 50% of their rosters.

This is a horrible take, and if you had a union job I'm 100 percent sure your ass would be a scab as soon as we went on strike :mjlol::camby:
Man these are people livelihoods on the line. People got bills to pay and children to feed, most cant afford a lockout, even for a season. That's just the reality of the situation.
