There really is no reason to get rid of him if he does the day to day stuff well. CBA isn't up until the 2020s. They got plenty of time to make a change before then if they think they ready to really fight the owners:manny:
:gucci:

If the NFLPA didn't take this action yesterday, there'd be a vote in March 2018 to decide on he next leader (which Smith still could have won). Terms are for 3 years, but since the CBA expires in 2021, in all likelihood Smith will be given an extension (changing leadership that close to the expiration of the CBA would be silly).

Keeping Smith without even hearing competing pitches from potential candidates was just stupid. He's done absolutely nothing to warrant that kind of faith.

D Smith is just a puppet.

His blackness is used as a safety blanket to make players feel comfortable with him.

The owners and Goodell know exactly what they're doing, and in the grand scheme so does D Smith.

It's all rigged.

I still wanna know who makes up that 14 person committee.

Have any players reacted to his re-election?

Smith isn't the greatest but I don't understand why people keep blaming him for players getting raped in the cba... they get raped because they have no other viable league to play in that pays what the nfl pays...not because smith is bad as his job...even though he is...uh...bad at his job...
Max Kellerman made a similar point...he thinks they'd pretty much be in the same position regardless due to the circumstances and leverage by the owners....the problem is that the players really have no options because of the nature of the sport and the lack of opportunities to play elsewhere.

It's all rigged.

It's simple negotiating, what would they even have to rig? What do you think MLK or Obama would be able to do in D Smith's position?

It's not a secret that most players come from poverty, suffer repeated head injuries, and have a line of players eager to take their spot for even less money than they currently get. Point to vague conspiracies when a player getting paid several million dollars a year can't go a few months without a paycheck.

The hype for this dude was crazy last go round. Just cause he was black and worked in Washington people thought he was going dominate the NFL owners for some reason, :snoop:
I don't understand why the NFL union doesn't just play hard ball. They should have been telling players to save up since the last negotiation

The Union has no leverage.

D. Smith has to manage the wants and needs of over 1,700 men.
