As we reported a few weeks ago, Nicki Minaj celebrated her 4th of July in Philadelphia along with The Roots, Ed Sheeran, Aloe Blacc, and Jennifer Hudson. Yesterday, Mayor Micheal Nutter held an unscheduled press conference to address the city about Minaj‘s language when she performed her single “Yasss Bish,” stating that he was under the impression all of the artists performing were going to adjust their lyrics for the family friendly event. When Phillymag.com published a review of the concert, they also attached a poll asking readers to vote whether or not they thought the language was an issue, and an astounding 83% believed the event could have been cleaner. Mayor Nutter had no choice but to ban Nicki Minaj from any further performances during July 4th celebrations in Philly, so don’t hold your breath for next year Nicki fans.
