Vietnam was 50 yrs ago and Somalia doesn't have oil or anything else anybody gives a fukk about. Bailing on Somalia made sense
Nigerian is ripe to be destabilized with an unhappy populace and so many factions within the country
Also northern Nigerian is mostly flat plains so the advantages that Vietnam (dense forest) or Afghanistan (mountainous) had in terms of guerilla warfare don't really apply there. All them random raids that the islamists do should be easy pickings for American air/drone strikes

America isn't going to directly intervene in Nigeria. After American troops have been smoked in Somalia and Niger, the US military doesn't like to place soldiers or special forces on the ground in Africa. Also, there's no strategic victory that can be gained by inserting American resources into Nigeria's endless ethno-religious power struggles.
Lets say the US bombs certain targets in Northern Nigeria (like what the Nigerian Air Force has been doing since 2009). And then what?

Anyway, the United States is too impotent to do anything. Besides, it's not like the US actually cares about black people, whether they're in the US or in Nigeria.
