Has to be for monetary reasons more than anything.
Ehh... he's already a quarter billion in and is a no brainer to sign another supermax. I think a lot of this depends on how next season goes and the moves the Nuggets make.

He was never signing the extension this year, same as Austin Reaves... not financially prudent to do so but the probability of him being on another team in two years is not 0% IMO

He can still take the money after next season and worry about the rest later. FA for players these days just isn't an option as teams don't have the cap space to sign them outright.
