I feel like Jokic is the better player but AD might be the perfect match up for Jokic. AD has length and is an elite defender, he’ll have the length to guard him in the paint and close out on those 3. He also will make Jokic guard the perimeter and take him out the paint, Jokic is a big body in the paint and blocks shot, he’s a poor defender in general tho. AD has been lighting him up in head to head games, but the way Jokic is playing I’m not doubting him.

But will AD show up when it matters

Joker got his team to the western conference finals

AD aint do shyt when he was the man on his team
I agree that’s why I put Jokic>Davis but I don’t think he has to be Jordan out there, it’s still Lebron’s team imo. If you asking him to be a sidekick well he might do that well.

I think he’s a good matchup for Jokic tho, I see him putting up some numbers and maybe even slowing Jokic down

The thing about AD is everytime he hits the floor which is often I think he will be out...I don’t see Jokic hitting the floor as much.

Great battle between big men...love to see it

I think they cancel each other out. This is LBJs series to put foots on necks.

Jokic is a far better creator and running the offense. Hes lightyears ahead of Davis and any big as far as passing the ball and making plays. Offensively Jokic is better overall but its a small gap. AD still a killer and one of the best scorers in the league he just dont make others better like Jokic does that why he struggled being the man on his team in NOLA with limited success even if his teams werent good

Defensively its not close at all. Its a DPOY candidate VS a mediocre defender that can be exploited by proper gameplanning in pick and roll and with his bad rim protection.

AD is in another class overall

I expect AD to play better this series

I still think Jokic is the better player overall, and who I would build around given the two

I been trying to tell y'all cats that big men have limited impact in today's game - particularly on the offensive end. Main-ball handlers rule the game. If you can't run an offense with the ball in your hands, then you can't control the game. To make matters worse, AD isn't a 3-pt shooting threat, so his impact is diminished even further.

Jokic is the only big man in the league who runs contrary to this.
Joel's impact is limited because he can't run the offense; his impact is limited to when the ball-handlers give him the ball, so when he's not getting the ball he's having little-to-no impact on that end. Especially since he doesn't stretch the floor without the ball either. The more times touching the rock = the more you can influence the offense. Steph's the next evolution of this, but that's a conversation for another day.

It's why bigs like AD, Boogie, LMA and Embiid haven't lead their respective teams to top seedings nor had notable success in the postseason. There's only one big who runs contrary to that rule - Jokic.

I'll let you work out why.

And it's not like the big men we have in today's league aren't great players in their own respect, it's just they're playing in a climate which isn't conducive to them leading a winning-team. You put Embiid back in the 80s/90s, where post-play was the staple of offenses, and the three-ball wasn't in rotation like it is now, and he'd be leading his team on deep playoff runs. He'd be revered as a far greater player than he is now. He's just simply a casualty of the era he's playing in.

:hubie:
The bold is especially relevant to AD.

Uncertain grounds

AD and Dwight are gonna dominate Jokic defensively.

Offensively they have no answer for Bron and AD either.

they have the athleticism and height combo to give jokic problems that the clippers did not.

they still have to respect him though obviously and wont hamper his ability to facilitate too much but may slow down his scoring

his assists may go down as well if they dont double him. jokic will have to score early and force the lakers to bring added pressure to open up the nuggets offense elsewhere

Fair assessment. This is how I see it too.
