Not to mention, the game has been out a lot longer, so of course it selling more isn't a surprise, combined with its fanbase and the amount of people who owned a Wii at the time. I can guarantee you this new one won't sell nearly as much.

Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS is at over 9 million. I doubt it'll touch the Wii Kart sales either but let's not act as if it isn't going to hit at least 10 million and by that alone, sell at least three times more than the average triple A title on multiple consoles.

Mario Kart is one of the few gaming franchises left that is transcendental. It appeals to hardcore and casual gamers alike in wide numbers. If Nintendo had at least ten more franchises that transcendental in this era, they would be dominating sales figures. Sadly, they do not, and most gamers couldn't care less about the average game they put out, and not just by going by the general attitude of this forum. Lucky for them, Mario Kart and Smash have just enough clout to save them from death on the home console market. Still don't expect that to keep the Nintendo bashers and Sony stans at bay though.

Who gives a damn about them though? Mario Kart and SSB will be major successes, that isn't even up for debate. Bayonetta 2 and the Monolith Software game are two other big exclusives for the Wii U this year so game wise most gamers will be set.

people have been saying nintendo is doomed and this is their last console since the n64. its just a boring conversation that has zero basis in reality. youll see sony an microsoft stop making consoles before nintendo. matter of fact if playstation and xbox werent attached to meg corporations and operated as a gaming company like nintendo they would be bankrupt and gone.

Actually, the gaming business is one of Sony's most successful branches. Without it Sony as a whole would be even more than they are now.

I'd say Microsoft is the most likely to give up its gaming division but even that seems unlikely unless the Xbox One doesn't manage to recover from its slump (which it will eventually).
