Only AAA franchises last that long with legendary gameplay and near infinite replayability. Face it, people want Nintendo to fail so the industry be free of Nintendo consoles and free of "kiddie" games that are better quality than 90% of the popular games now.
Whatever you want to tell yourself. I dont know why people would want to be free of quality games... Maybe people just dont want to buy a 9th mario party game?

all i want is for Nintendo to partner with a company that can put out a worthwhile box with third party support and put their same Nintendo games on that. there's no point for them to make home consoles anymore. the market doesn't really want it either.

Nintendo makes its own box that plays its own games and a minor selection of third party games. Meanwhile the competitors boxes play pretty much all third party games as well as their own games.

Basically the only worth of buying Nintendo's box is to play their games. The home console crowd doesn't value Nintendo's games enough to pay that price of admission. If the choices are buy Nintendo's box and play their games or don't buy it and miss out. The overwhelming majority of console gamers would rather skip those games.

Nintendo has no response for this because the only valid response isn't something they're willing to do. There for Nintendo will continue on a path to home console irrelevancy as more and more gamers start to ignore them.

Historically Nintendo console sales have been in a free fall. The Wii was a fluke outside of it each Nintendo console sold worse than the previous one.
You can't really call the wii a fluke though. They designed it with a clear plan to capture that "blue ocean" crowd and they succeeded. They had a very concise marketing strategy and an easy to grasp message to consumers. Granted that crowd has moved on and the wii u is suffering because of it, but you can't seriously consider the wii simply a fluke. A fluke is making a full court shot or a winning a 100 to 1 bet on a whim, selling 100 million consoles with a 9 game tie in ratio isn't a fluke by any stretch

Hell no. :childplease:

The industry will crash due to a huge number of 3rd party companies going bankrupt due to hyper-inflated development budgets. A world without a Nintendo console would be a nightmare for everyone since they are not giving into the 'mature' nonsense garbage and going their own way.

Nintendo can bounce back. They still have to have major money in the bank. This news may actually help push some of the people at the top out. They need new leadership and they need to start developing a next gen super console that can handle 4K and possibly more. They can add shyt like a new version of the power glove and some virtual 3d glasses for gaming. There are many game developers that would be excited to take on such challenges. Motion sensor was introduced by Nintendo, I'm sure that they can do something innovative. They are just going to have to weather the losses for now. This might be the best thing to happen to them. If you look at the gamecube and how it did...Nintendo was dying to people and then they bounced back the Wii somethin fierce.

The Wii U isn't suffering because of the Wii. The Wii U is suffering because the core group of Nintendo fans that are willing to go buy a console solely to play Nintendo games on it has been declining since the NES / SNES days and that trend is only continuing. the Wii was the exception to that rule not the rule itself. the vast majority of the people that bought the Wii weren't Nintendo fans or really even gamers. they were people caught up in a fad that eventually ran its course.

And all I want is for more devs to put the same care with quality games with a focus on strong gameplay that Nintendo does with its franchises. Unfortunately you can't always get what you want.

Seeing some of my favourite Sega and Sony franchises die over the years has been far more sadder than Nintendo having its own console, because at least I can still play Nintendo games if I really want to.

so the 3 million Wii U's Nintendo is projecting they'll sell this year will save the industry?

Nintendo putting their games on a worthwhile console means more gamers get to play them. Nintendo's fans will buy whatever console their games come out on and the fans of that console be it Sony or Microsoft or whoever will also buy and get to play them.

LOL you think that Nintendo dedicate to a fanbase (Sony) filled with gamers that shyt on Mario and "kiddie" franchises? :childplease:

That in itself is dignity for Nintendo to keep on doing them and not bow down to Sony that shyt on them and disrespect them for so long. Even when more money is involved in the short term, Nintendo is smarter than that and can rebound on any loss that they do.

when Iwata gets bounced the next CEO is likely gonna go third party on consoles because it makes the most sense. the market is showing with apathy it doesn't give a shyt if Nintendo makes hardware or not. the Wii U has good games despite that people aren't buying it. The Wii U has better games than the Xbox One or PS4 right now. still not selling.

if he's lucky Iwata will get another year before the shareholders call for his head.

I think some 12 year old fanboys talking shyt on Internet forums would have zero impact on Nintendo choosing to go 3rd party on Sony platforms. Having said that, Nintendo ain't going third party to the other two no time soon. Even with the losses they are so very far away from that scenario at this point it's delusional to think its even a possibility
