Why do y'all nikkas think that is.. dude's got a dope voice. Is his content just to limited (Crips, gang shyt)? He knows how to make catchy shyt tho..

Victory Lap is a classic breh. Best west coast album on years. Like since the Documentary by Game.

I see nip as more of an entrepreneur than a rapper his music always seemed to be more of a stepping stone than anything to me :ehh:

I'm a big Nip fan :salute:

One thing I dislike though is that these guys preach "Ownership" but wear Balenciaga and these "high fashion" brands, but don't promote other independent owners and/or their own shyt.

Dude has a dope ass clothing store in his neighborhood and a website, and is doing an interview wearing another brand just for the implied status. :snoop: I went to LA and bought a shirt. What's my motivation for supporting him if he's not even pushing it himself?

is the shirt you bought one of the ones he is wearing in this video with over 8 million views?

my point is he does promote his clothes. i know in the social media era, one picture paints a million words but i think we gotta be realistic and not expect him to wear it every single time.

Naw It wasn't that one it was this one

I paid 120 in store a few months ago. :yeshrug:

I'm not saying he never promotes his clothes and this is nothing to argue about honestly. I think we BOTH want to support Nipsey, right?

All I'm saying is that I :salute: and financially support the dude. I buy into his "independent" grind and hustle to the top. Why are we supporting these outrageous brands that don't give a fyck about our people when we could be supporting each other?

oh i see... that shirt matches the hat that everybody is rockin in this video with over 12 million views

as far as other brands, i don't think its a big deal. there is enough room in the apparel business for everyone (just count how many items you have in your closet) so you can be diverse. plus i think they do show interest in the culture if they are making attempts at streetwear styles since rappers have been shouting them out. they could've just stuck to the high fashion styles if they wanted to.

Good shyt
:ehh:

I see how they like rocking high-end fashion stuff and they live this life daily and want to flex and switch things up

BUT

I agree that he can’t lose when he rocks his own gear consistently

As a big fan: do you feel he musically/lyrically got better since Bullets Ain’t Got No Name, or actually not?

It's tough. Music is really subjective. I can see growth...but possibly not "lyrical growth".

I think Nip has grown as a man, businessman, artist, etc. So he may not be a better rapper on the technical side now, he definitely is a better artist as far as crafting songs and cohesive verses etc.

Last verse of Blue Laces 2 is incredible
VL as a whole production wise is leaps above any of his other projects.

So I think he's making better music now, but I could see how someone could disagree :yeshrug:

re: clothes

I got nothing wrong with him wearing what he wants to wear. I think I came off wrong in my OP. I guess when someone stands for something, it's dope that they stand for it all the time. Nothing wrong with him rocking what he wants to rock, but I think it would be DOPER if he stayed laced in his own shyt.

I think what I liked about mixtape Nip was that shyt sounded raw and like he was still in the streets. Not on some slanging shyt but that he was closely connected to the street.

Not saying he’s not now BUT it seems/feels less. The subject matter seems more forced, the beats seem too polished, the way music is released feels more tactical/planned vs more like ‘let’s drop this heat’.

What I do think improved: dude grew a lot as a business man and that’s dope af to see.

I’m definitely going to check VL again breh

I really liked mad tracks on the first 2 Bullets tapes (They Roll feat game was my shyt)

What I wonder is why he’s not part of the Drake-Future-Migos level of fame, he grew as an artist but needs more it seems
