Can’t believe this Johnson punk wrote this bullshyt “think piece” when Nip’s corpse is not even cold yet. Like, I don’t recall Nipsey ever making disparaging comments or slurs about anyone gay. These blavity c00ns took one instance where he questioned the white media’s intentions and made it seem like this was a propensity to continuously “attack” gays or some shyt. All he said was that the media will give platform to a certain kind of brutha (violent, urban, gay) to undermine the black family. He didn’t say anything was wrong with being gay, but the representation of a heterosexual, everyman-type black male is scarcely represented. I think that’s a fair argument. The brutha even came out and apologized multiple times (even though the shyt he said was taken out of context) but it still wasn’t enough...even in death.

“...but his legacy is complicated by his unwillingness to give up the homophobia and misogyny that continue to hold so many of us back.”

Opinion | Nipsey Hussle, homophobia and the toxic black masculinity that fuels it

I absolutely HATE George M. Johnson. He's a despicable and evil little man whose hatred of black men is doing significant harm to our community. Look at this quote from his piece:

We have seen the glorification of gang culture, and how it intersects black masculinity. We have seen it portrayed in movies like “Boyz in the Hood,” and expressed in songs like the NWA classic “fukk the Police.” Black Americans are justifiably tired of the oppressive systems that police America. Nipsey’s story is no different than many we have seen: A young man from the hood tries to have a positive impact, but his legacy is complicated by his unwillingness to give up the homophobia and misogyny that continue to hold so many of us back.

Stretching back well before Coppolla's Godfather, when James Cagney starred in a string of films glorying gangsters, Hollywood has had an enduring and unshakable fascination with organized crime (read: white gangsters) that continues to this day. Does George M. Johnson believe that Scorcese's Mean Streets, Goodfellas and Casino reflect an epidemic of toxic white masculinity in our society? Does he feel that the Sopranos was a mirror to the diseased soul of America's white men? What distinguishes these films - of which there are far more - from the urban dramas he mentions in his character assasination of Nipsey? What makes them immune from his criticism? How reprehensible is it that this piece of shyt exploits the tragic death of Nipsey, whose impact will be felt long after the mourning has ceased, to attack black men and satisfy his white peers? :francis:

I never heard Nipsey's music on Hot 97 or Power 105.1, so I don't know if I'm living in a simulation.

"I’m tired of black death. But I’m equally tired of those attempting to hold on to ideals that have been proven to cause so much pain and fear."

So that's all we're worth to you, huh? Our lives are of equal weight to some hurtful words? :pacspit: :camby:

The Death of Black Men is Big Business.

Dr. Tommy Curry shook me to my core by saying; democracy wouldn't survive if black men were recognized as human beings.

I wanna leave this country because of nikkas like George Johnson

Nah fukk all that. Breh is dead, anybody that had an issue should've said their piece while he was still breathing. You don't get to slander somebody that murdered was doing all the right things for his community--WTF :pacspit:

I've always considered myself to be someone that really doesn't give a fukk about LGBTQ folks living their lives but cot damn :gucci: We're at a point where they're crowbarring their way into shyt that has nothing to do with them. Go fukk your husband, it's legal now.
