Sheeeeet....Kobe at 34 is more athletic than Kobe at 31,32 and 33. Those German injections seem to help his athleticism - Jordan didn't have access to that.
Also, Jordan leaving to baseball for 17 months pretty much diminished his hops. People argue that the layoff helped Jordan, and in some ways that may be true.
But anyone who knows anything about the aging process knows that, if you're over the age of 30 and constantly participating in a particular sport, like basketball, if you all of a sudden stop for nearly two years, your muscles atrophy to the point of no return. It's different than stopping at the age of 20 and coming back at 22. Jordan's hops from 93, no longer existed when he returned in 95 - it couldn't have due to nearly two years of lack of use of certain muscles.
And with that said, he was still performing better than Kobe in my opinion. Kobe has shot the lakers out of many games this year - Jordan rarely did that at age 34.
