New day and era bro.. Now with all the camps and 7on7 and worldwide coverage of hs sports and recruiting you can't get by with just being 4.4 or 6'3... U gotta showcase it to even think you will be a 4 or 5 star.. Well at least out here in Cali
Honestly Michigan should've revoked Shane Morris' commit after he stunk it up at the army game and other camps. he got exposed before he hit campus

Los Angeles.. Figside
you answered your own question. He was the #4 overall recruit in america, selected by Michigan, which was easily the best QB place at the time [pro system and a senior QB graduating] and was drafted in the 3rd round as a backup to a permenant started...i mean...he is an arguable bust at least in this type of conversation. Jake Locker was a top ten pick and hasn't done anything

Bad fit.. Transferred to Arkansas which was a perfect fit and he had a ton of weapons around him.. Ad played in the sec.. That's not a bust bro.. Top 3 rounds of the draft and still playing/starting especially inst a bust.. And locker really isn't.. He has lil to no talent around him and one of the leagues shyttiest olines.. You gotta factor these things in when you call a qb a bust

Technically the star ratings are only supposed to mean how quickly a player might contribute in COLLEGE. They get blown up into meaning other things, but really the difference in a 5 star and a 4 star is minimal...and varies between services.

I'm only 22 and this happened in '09. I know what you're talking about, both these showed out at camps and 7 on 7s and things like that

Bro I graduated in 07... And trust me I kno now bcuz I coach now and I speak wit recruiters at d1 schools like bi-daily.. It's different.. These 7on7 teams are big now.. U got guys like Keyshawn Johnson and snoop dog funding teams.. shyt be loaded.. It's crazy man.. And to even think bout being a 5-4 stars u gotta go to these 5star camps and do work on elite nikkas.. It's crazy how d1 ready they are nowadays

i'm talking as compared to the potential that a 5 star and 4 star player recruits. Mallet was not a college bust [playing in the SEC isn't an accomplishment lol..especially ARKANSAS], but he hasn't lived up performed up to the level of the players i DIDNT call a bust.

I see what you're saying. But the current NFL players wouldn't have come up in this system you're referring to. Maybe there'll be a correction that we'll see in the next 5-10 years.

He hasn't lived up to mr.butt fumble mark Sanchez :mjlol:
But for the most part you're right.. We shall revisit this around this time next year.. And starting in the sec at qb that time and finishing top 4 in the conference was a major accomplishment

top four in your conference is an accomplishment? and Starting at QB in the sec is never an accomplishment. The EPITOME of struggle qbs in there. The conference typically has 1 stud qb starter, 1 good, and 12 garbage qbs. Mallet happened to be the 'good' qb at the time in the conference.

mallet is better than sanchez but sanchez started at USC, performed VERY well there, and started multiple seasons in the NFL.

how does ryan mallet compare to that????

Yea breh exactly.. I'm saying in the next 5 years.. Like I never saw da east coast prospects compete wit west coast talent to compare at camps back then.. Now they all at 1 place and goin against each other so they kno.. The experts kno who's a dog and who's not early

Imo the jury is still out on mallett. He only got one chance and got injured. Watching him in preseason back when he was on the pats was frustrating as hell tho. He'd make a great sideline throw and then would bounce an easy slant or hitch route.

i can agree with that but i can't call him a success yet. I like mallet btw...but he is reguarly overrated [both college career and NFL potential]

Sec top 3 qbs that year were mallet, cam newton and Aaron Murray.. That's not bad at all.. And yea Sanchez on paper looks better but he owes Revis a check bcuz defense won most those games.. And the run game

so what are you saying? The top 3 in the big ten were RUSSELL WILSON, Kirk Cousins, and Denard Robinson...in the pac 12 it was ANDREW LUCK, Nick Foles, and Matt Barkley....

sec quarterbacks are anything but elite ESPECIALLY if we're talking depth of quality at the position
