Aight breh's, in a way to help me better grasp what it is I've been exposed to and to help spread some knowledge I've decided to open up a thread devoted to discussion about "the Cloud". that mystical, all encompassing catch-phase being slung around like hooker twat at spring break time. to some (and me before I took my first course on Cloud computing and technology) it can be very confusing and off-putting. so let's try to get some discussion going about the cloud and if you all have questions, I'll try my best to explain it as easy as possible. so let's begin with the basics;

Where does the term originate from?
The term "Cloud" originated from the early days of networking. when network maps were drawn up to illustrate an organizations or companies network map, a simple cloud icon was utilized to depict its extended components.

Well, wtf is the Cloud?
The cloud is defined as "Flexible self-service, network-accessible computing resource pools that can be allocated to meet demand"
What is "Flexible self-service"?
Adjustable available resources & processing power which can meet changes in need or based on configuration settings in an administrative interface without the need for direct IT personnel involvement.

What do you mean by "Network-accessible computing resource pools"?
What is meant is that the resources for any cloud service is assigned from a larger pool of available capacity (such as Memory, Storage, CPUs) as needed.
