Common courtesy is non existent in mainland culture. Hong Kong people hate on mainlanders for this.
The concept of space doesn't exist over there...they're pushed onto trains to fit as much people as they can over there.
I think because their country is so homogenous that they don't mind being near each other...they tend to have same religious views,socially,etc...more compassionate towards each other.
Or put it like this..America has so many different cultures,races that it leads to us naturally being suspicious of others and not wanting to be so close to them.
