Sony's strategy is getting as many people as possible on their consoles as quickly as possible. because they get a cut of everything each consumer buys on the playstation store combined with playstation plus. They're not doing that at $649, especially with this economy. The ps5 pro is sold at a profit so that's not an accurate representation of what the ps6 price will be. The are willing to subsidize since they are going to get a cut via software. The only way they continue their success next gen is not going above $550, $500 would be even better.

The ps6 will also use smaller components than the ps5, a deliberate choice to reduce costs. A $500 digital ps6 would do very well since a bunch of people buy digital nowadays and $550 would be for the people that still buy physical. $500 seems to be the cutoff price in general though. $550 is a test. Not $600 and above $500. Sony could of bumped the price to $600 and chose not to, because of what occurred with the ps3. They want to see how well that sells compared to the $500 digital ps5 to determine whether or not a $550 ps6 would sell well. That's why there are rumors of a delay because they don't want to price the ps6 too high and ruin their strategy.

Sony discontinuing both the ps5 and ps5 pro and concentrating on the ps6 sold at the the same price as the ps5 to cut costs would not be surprising. The ps6 will probably play ps4 and ps5 games so this wouldn't be detrimental. Sony wants previous gen playstation users on the ps6 and they have been trying to get those users off of there for a while now since have yet to buy a ps5 after almost six years. That's not happening at $649.

You’re dreaming if you think this is going to be 500. I think this will be more than 649 tbh. It don’t matter as long as it’s cheaper than Magnus and steam machine it will sell even more. With everything going up Sony is not taking a lost like that. Why do you think they stopped doing PC ports they are trying to give you a reason to buy an almost $1,000 dollar console.

Sony secured RAM for a couple of years I believe so they are going to be unaffected by the crisis until they need to reup. The components of the ps6 are smaller than the ps5, which will assist in reducing production costs. The pro will be discontinued, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the ps5 discontinued as well to concentrate on the ps6 since the ps6 is going to be able to play ps4 and ps5 games so they can sell the ps6 at $500 digital and $550 disc drive at worst. Sony refuses to bump the ps5 price to $600. They could sell a $500 digital ps6 with no disc drive bundle available with the detachable disc drive sold separately. The ps6 is not the ps5 pro. The ps5 pro is sold at a profit and costs about the same to produce as the ps5. They need to sell a bunch of units as quickly as possible based on their strategy of profit with playstation. Sony is not accomplishing that with a $1000 console.

Since Sony already secured RAM for a couple of yerars, I'm going with a $500 digital ps6 with a detachable disc drive sold separately. I don't think Sony is going to sell a disc drive bundle and will go the ps5 pro route with the digital ps6 being the only available sku. This way Sony avoid bad press of a $600+ ps6 by not selling a disc drive bundle. The ps5 pro will be discontinued, and the ps5 is going to have a price cut, a number of price cuts, or be discontinued so that the ps6 is the only console Sony has to produce along with the ps portable, and that won't be a problem since the ps6 is going to be backwards compatible with ps4 and ps5 games. It's possible that the ps6 price could go way beyond $500 with a ps5 pro price or above, or somewhere between $600 and $700, however I believe with Sony's strategy of profit with playstation, they are going to try their best to avoid that because that would be worse than the ps3 situation. The ps6 would still sell, just not at the rate Sony would need for their strategy to work, probably around or worse than the ps5 pro sales rate. Sony also wants previous gen playstation users who have still not purchased a ps5 on the ps6, and that's not going to happen with a $600-750+ price tag.
