Didn't watch but Off the Wall was already popping at the time so if he chose the money on some "I didn't know the album was gonna blow up" he's a dummy.
Crazy how the Lion Kings parents were smart enough to not take the easy 2 Milly

Nobody was really selling albums like that when Thriller came out. The industry was declining in sales, and most people expected Thriller to sell what Off the Wall did. Even when it first came out, it took a while to catch on and it wasn't until they released "Billie Jean" that it became what it was.

I could see Vincent doing it as a favor to Quincy, not thinking the album would sell that much or being afraid he would get snaked out of royalties. He probably thought the $20k was a safe choice and left it at that.

Nah. He mentioned that he had previously appeared on musican's albums. Out of all the people in entertainment, I think recording artists get jerked the worst. Singers have to file lawsuits to get royalties and earnings , much less a featured voiceover guest.

It seemed like the safe decision. If Thriller matched OTW sales, he would have had to spend attorney fees to get roughly 20 K back eventually.

Nobody could have predicted the Thriller album and single becoming the MONSTER hits they became.
