With Kevin love talking about upgrades to the wolves roster had me thinking.... Nobody wants to be on the Malone Ewing and Stockton train there was a time where you was just happy to be in the NBA and make money and have a nice or hall of fame carrer. No it's if you have no rings you are worthless Barkley can't even have a convo on tv without some one saying something about him having no titles.... That why I think there is so much movement the pressure from the media and fans it's getting crazy!:why:

I don't think Malone, Stockton, Ewing, Barkley etc. came into the league without championship aspirations. Players have always been judged by rings. The only difference is that now players are actually being proactive instead of just sitting around hoping the FA gets it done. The days of one sided loyalty and players allowing their destiny to rest in the hands of the owners is over and I am happy about it. Now if they were to just get rid of sign and trades and give some sort of cap break to teams that draft well the system would be perfect.

Who is someone? Casual fans? Shaq?

Shaq does it for comedic purposes (he can't really hang with Chuck)

But, only a fair-weather, casual, highlight watchin' fan takes away from a player because he doesn't have a ring.

Darko, Adam Morrison <<<< Chuck

Let's be real; winning is everything, but, the reality is only 12 players get a title a year and everyone can't be on the same team ( I guess you can't tell players that, nowadays, ie, all these superteams)

Chris Paul>>>>>>Rondo

A lot of winning has to do with GMs & owners

Agree with this thread.

There is a certain threshold that star NBA players get too where if they're a certain age and dont have a chip, them NOT being a champion is what they'll be defined as.

Its like they become a 37yr old woman whose never been married or a woman in her 40s with no kids....their biological clock start ticking.

1st of all unless you play on certain teams in the NBA you ain't seeing a title. Look how many teams have won ships. NBA is a league of dynasties so unless you're a part of one you most likely ain't gettin one.
2nd too much emphasis is place on ring counting. Yea it's important but it doesn't make one player better than another. A lot of stuff has to go right to make it to the finals let alone win it. A lot of things greater than one player

MIA had the cap room to sign them and would have done so if CLE and TOR hadn't agreed to the S&Ts. Even if it had prevented that shyt I would still be in favor of them getting rid of S&T. Unlike other posters I don't have lustful feelings for other men and my thoughts and statements don't change in accordance with the circumstances of a certain player(s).

I don't think anyone was happy to just be in the NBA. Every player from those years including Malone and Stockton went hard as fukk for that ship and came up short.

You're forgetting the friend aspect of today's game because of what AAU has become... They were friends off the court but seeing them lovey dovey before/after the game, that shyt wasn't happening.

Also, the reason you see so many retired players of the game chime in on superstars joining other superstars is because that shyt's not kosher. (Remind you, at that time players were drafted and traded to HOF teams so they have a different perspective)

Basically, if you win you trend... Winning solves all problems. It's just the way you want to go about it is what will cause an uproar

Exactly. People always talk about these guys as though they didn't give a fukk about winning and didn't even want championships. SMH @ the thread starter saying guys were just happy to be in the league. No player who is Hall of Fame superstar status was ever "just happy" to be in the NBA; the best always aspire for more, even if they don't achieve it.

This is with the hindsight of knowing Jordan was the greatest of all time, im sure they never thought he would win that many, and that they all would get a chance to taste the glory.

Because even in the old days, somebody usually would get at least one ring if you're a great player. Jordan just shut them out completely. Damn
