Because....
Because gender is mostly socially constructed.
Some say race is socially constructed but not in the same way.
In every culture there's a division in what men and women are like transgender people can take on the role of another gender because they dont fit into the binary.
But race on the other hand is different because there's not supposed predetermined characteristics for a black person or an asian person...if you try to mimic stereotypes from another race then most will call you racist. That's why there's no transracial.
However gender roles are seen as oppressive and that's why many will think it's ok for people to ignore what's expected of their biological sex and become the opposite gender.
Gender is entirely socially constructed.
Misappropriated and fabricated within your parents' lifetime.
You do not have a gender, you have a
sex.
Gender was never intended to apply to people, it was a language comprehension term (like noun or preposition) used to indicate whether you needed to use the masculine or feminine of a word (Trabaja vs Trabajo) no different that tense is used to determine whether you need to say do or did.
In its newfound context of being applied to people its a malliable concept, therefore fails the rules and requirements of being a valid category.
Announcing your gender is pointless, because it has no system of requirements or prerequisites. I am a man, no wait I'm a woman, no wait I'm both. Now I'm neither. Being able to do that disqualifies it as a rational catagory to be taken seriously by any scientific or medical standard.
When an educated person wants to know what you are, they test you and locate a finite answer. They don't ask you questions.
You can say you are asian, or a woman, or 5'6... but there are tests and measurements that can pinpoint all of that without you saying anything.
Any label you have that has no tangible basis of measurement or test and someone needs your input on is non-scientific nonsense designed with things like feelings in mind.
