No troll... Why do you think Jay has had so much more business success than Nas?

And forgive me if this thread has been made already.

But I was listening to Blueprint today and thinking when it's all said and done Jay will probably be my most respected rapper ever. Not my favorite rapper or who I consider the best rapper, but my most respected rapper ever. Mostly for how he handles business outside of hip hop and his character.

Dude is an entrepreneur and hustler of the highest order. The different economic ventures he's into and the success he's achieved is really unparalleled in the rap game.

Plus you never hear dude in the media sh*tting on people heavy. Don't get me wrong, he will sneak diss the sh*t out of you and he might stab you, but you never see him acting like a b*tch on social media or getting in nasty public beefs. All dirt gets handled behind closed doors. Even when he caught a 20-piece in the elevator you never heard a peep, and I can respect that.

And he bagged the illest female in music period--wifey wise, music wise and business wise. Gotta respect that :myman:

Which brings me to the thread... I started wondering why Jay's experienced so much more success outside of hip hop than other rappers... especially Nas because I consider Nas the better emcee (because he deals with better content). But outside of hip hop Nas's success is low compared to Jay. Even emcees who had more commercial success have not had as much business success as Jay.

Summary: So honest question, what's your opinion on why Jay has had so much more business success than other hip hop artists?

Financial success wasn't necessarily one of Nas' goals going into the game...

Steve Stoute has an interview where he speaks on how Nas didn't want to get any bigger at one point and he kinds went ghost on him cause he was runnin from all the "success"

Hov came into this shyt with a goal not only getting his music out, but of being successful. That hustler's mentality.

He mentions on U Don't Know "could make 40 of a brick but 1 rhyme can beat that..." He wanted the music to work, not only cause he loved it, but cause of the money.

Nas is more artistic, prone to introspection, and he does well in his business, it's just on his own terms. Also, Jay wanted it more. And it's always been explained in the music, where you can see their personalities the most, I have elements of both, but I'm more Nas, I'd rather be traveling the world, laying low in some far off spot, than taking meetings and pursuing empire after empire. And I respect Jay's moves a lot, I just would rather not deal with it. I relate more to the introspection in Nas' music and personality.

In their 40's these two men, are who they always have been, as we listened to grow up, and as we grow up ourselves.....Nas the introspective street poet, who wrote while watching the world around him, from QB to Mecca kid, and back again, Jay the hustler, who took what he wanted out of the streets, and then the corporate world.
