...as a member of Larry's garden :flabbynsick: as it pertains to today's rap music...I wanna know who is the top lyrical rapper of today's generation? Put me on...who is this generations Nas or Face?

I listen to some new rappers here and there: durk, lil baby, saba, westside boogie (if they're still considered new)but none are lyrical monsters. Am I missing somebody?

Sadly Rap ain’t about lyrics anymore, there’s a few dope ones left but unless you’re Cole/Drake/Kendrick or jay (if he dropped) no one new is checking for you.

Everyone else is either already a fan, they rock with your wave or how the song makes them feel

You’re missing that no one cares about bars on a mainstream level or atleast not in the way that 90 Ny bias hiphop heads think of lyricism

There’s a “BARS” playlist on Apple Music. Start there for new artist with bars

yeah not counting Cole kendrick...the new current guys.

It's crazy, I feel even more washed up knowing we can't consider the Coles, Kendricks, Joey Bada$$es as young guys any longer considering they're all 4 and 5 albums deep. They're the buffer generation now. Curious to see what responses folks come back with on here.

All that traditional lyrical miracle spiritual shyt is still around if you're looking for the generation of rappers after Cole/Kendrick/Joey Badass. The only problem is this class of rappers are either super corny or super amateur.

- JID (still finding his sound)
- Cordae (amateur, still needs more growth, got a lisp too)
- Symba (amateur, but he's got the most promise)
- Ray Vaughan (amateur, but promising)
- Reason (corny but tolerable)
- Joyner Lucas (corny)
- Russ (corny)
- Logic (corny)

You're better off sticking to the street shyt like Griselda, Stovegod, Rome Streetz, Boldy James, Ransom, 38 Spesh, Gibbs, Che Noir, RJ Payne, Crimeapple, etc. You aren't going to find better rappers than Ransom or Conway today. Conway has been building a cool roster under Drumwork too. YOD is still rapping if you want your Nas fix.

This thread getting :flabbynsick:

OP, go listen to some Lil Baby, Polo G, Moneybagg Yo, Key Glock, Kodak Black, and Migos

I'm a fan of Kodak...he can spit and his last album I like a lot. but he not a monster lyrically. I like some of lil baby stuff...but I feel the same about him lyrically. they're both talented and I like their music but their not mind-blowing lyrically.

I'll check the rest out.
