Now I see why the NFL ratings are bad :scusthov:

For who? Die hards?

I remember this forum (and other places TBF) trashed how NBC showed the Olympic games and certain things would be on tape delay or only exclusive to the site because NBC was busy cooking up tearjerker stories and drama and storylines, mainly for women and otherwise casual fanatics to get you more intrigued by events. All we wanted was just to see the events as they were. Why? Because we wanted to just get to the action. Many events either didn't have a backstory we cared for or had this amazing storyline ahead of time aside from the usual suspects. At what point would you say that the NFL games stopped being enough for even die-hards? Even in the NBA now, we need storylines. What it really boils down to is that 2/3rds to 3/4th of professional teams interest hardcore fans in no way shape or form. It used to not be like that. Even the "yassssss! there's someone to watch on every team!" crowd in the NBA here is gonna start going "why the fukk are they on TV?"
For casuals obviously. There are less and less die hards. Plus, there are too many other distractions. To get someone to sit down for a full game of something that is not there teams requires you to demonstrate why it's a better story than the shyt they have queued up on Netflix. Like, why I watch this Cowboys v. Eagles over the Walking Dead if I'm not a fan of either team?

But I also, disagree about those events not having storylines. They had sports storylines like @jadillac was getting at. Like Phelps v. Lochte, etc. Peyton v. Brady. Lakers v. Kings, etc. The storylines were organic and built up based on excellence and competition. People identified with one side of a rivalry even if it wasn't their team. There was something to root for or against. That was the shyt to get US invested, and the other shyt was for the casuals. Now it's just like :manny:. Part of me wonders if it's part of people now having "brands" and ESPN slandering athletes so much that people are afraid to give the media any personality.

Im only interested in watching the New York Football Giants
#NYG

I could care less about any other team except maybe the raiders

But umm its not always a pleasurable viewing experience
:mjcry:

this is so spot on. I been watching the Raiders games every week. maybe not fully but tuning in often. That team is fun to watch. Usually a match up like Eagles vs Dallas is must watch tv but i kinda just glanced at my phone to check in on the score instead of watching it fully while playing video games.
