Maine Senate Passes National Popular Vote Bill To Bypass Electoral College

Alert: Maine Senate Passes National Popular Vote Bill To Bypass Electoral College, page 1

Apparently there are 14 states that will now disregard who their state voted for in majority, and give ttheir electoral college votes to that person.

Instead, Maine legislators, like these 14 states, plan to give their electoral college votes to whoever wins the nationwide popular vote....completely disregarding their citizens and the Constitution. Their cheating out in the open.

:mindblown:

This is going to require a Supreme Court decision after 2020 POTUS election. You heard it here.

Got you shook eh? :myman:

Former Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) has been a vocal critic of the bill, facing backlash in February after claiming that it would silence “white people” if enacted.

LePage, who has come under fire over past racist comments, warned that “minorities” would have more control if more bills meant to ensure the president is elected by the national popular vote are passed.

:mjlol:

Imagine protesting the looming end of White power. :snoop:

Imagine being afraid of White rural people losing their unfair dominance of the Electoral College. :beli:

Pretty soon you're gonna lose all those gerrymandered House districts too. :umad:

The only one of the three you'll still have unfairly tilted in your direction will be the damn Senate. :shaq2:

At the 2010 Census, 94.4% of the population was non-Hispanic White, 1.1% non-Hispanic Black or African American, 0.6% American Indian and Alaska Native, 1.0% Asian, 0.1% from some other raceand 1.4% of two or more races. 1.3% of Maine'spopulation was of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin.

I mean, history shows us white people change the rules whenever they want.

The federal goverment imposed their will on the states by free the slaves. If they had left it to the free market, the civil war would have been avoided and slavery would hace phased out naturally.

Yall are missing the point. If a state's citizen's vote for a candidate, why is state legislator saying we will override our state's votes....even though our citizens voted a certain way.

Does that sound like freedom/democracy to you, because that sounds like totalitarianism to me?

There is a Constitutional process to change the Constitution...it's that simple.

I tell you what, go to your local state legislators and say:
  • "Because the Bill of Rights was written by racists slave owning white men, we should as [such and such state] will no longer abide by those rights set aside for the protection of the citizens against state tyranny. "
So basically yall are insinuating because the Constitutional/Bill of Rights system was created by racists for racists, but has now morphed to cover all American citizens, states might as well just not abide by any of it, correct?

I'm not saying the Electoral College is good or bad. I understand the racist origin of the Electoral College, but it has a different meaning now...it's not about 3/5 slaves anymore, because there are no "3/5" people to use as a cover. Now it's about urban states vs more rural states. Again, if you want to override then there is a process, and what comes out of that is what it is...

If you want to get rid of the Bill of Rights (highly stupid I think), then there is a process to get rid. The Whole System Has Racist Origins, but there are aspects like the Bill of Rights that any critically thinking person would agree is worth protecting.

Don't let the Emotional Aspects override your Critical Objective Thinking potential.

Personally, I don't think you understand what "totalitarianism" means. This isn't it. :bpgucci:

If the
state legislator invalidates the will of the voting public, that is leaning towards a totalitarianism...total control of the state and total subservience by the people.

What phrase would you use to describe that scenario? :jbhmm:

I call that cheating the public and tyranny.
