My pops would always listen to talk radio going to sleep. I do the same now. Download the TuneIn Radio app and scan their channels. Check out WCPT radio in Chicago they got the fire.

Anyone know of any other progressive or black radio stations out there?

Let's get this out of the way first and foremost..

Now hear me out lol. Been playing NPR in the car these days more often than actually bumping any music and have really been enjoying it. It's great having a news source that isn't run by ad revenue. They even had a small segment today discussing the impact that the fire going on out here in California is going to affect this year's weed harvests.
All Things Considered

Often during interludes they play good hip-hop or funk music.

NPR also has a show called, This American Life which often puts out stories that deal very matter of factly about race issues here in the states. Other times it's just cool slice of life stories from interviews that make you look at things from other perspectives.

Tiny Desk is a show that showcases lots of great music acts, including rap and hip hop artists. Check out their archives, it contains some really good mini-concerts. While I was looking up who they've had on, I noticed that on the NPR Music website they actually have their own live R&B and jazz stations. The R&B one was playing everything from Guy to Patti Labelle.
