as disgusted as I am by rap music "fans"? People talking about so-and-so is the best because they sold the most records? People saying this guy or the next guy just cant be good because I never hear them on the radio? People constantly shytting on legends and having no repsect for them? I want to say rap fans are ignorant no matter what color or background they come from. How many rock fans do you hear shyt on Led Zepplin or any other legends in rock? How many people would dare shyt on the classic rock groups and say some current band who has one good record out is the GOAT? Its got to the point that when people ask me what kind of music I listen to, I just say anything besides rap, just to avoid the ignorant conversation that comes after that...
Random coworker
him: Who's the best rapper out now?
me: Freddie Gibbs
Him: Who? I've never heard of him before, Weezy is the greatest.
me:
Based on what?
Him: He sells a ton, and he get a lot of radio play
Me:
What the fukk does that have to do with anything?
Him: If anybody you mention was better than Wayne, I would be hearing their stuff all over the radio.
Me: *Tired of the ignorance* Yeah, you're right, Weezy is the best
*walks away*
Him:
*walks away thinking he just convinced me Wayne or any of these other clowns are the GOAT*
Meet a chick at a bar
Her: What kind of music do you listen to?
Me: Rap
Her: Who's your favorite?
Me: Its Wu-Tang Forever
Her: Who?
I've never hear of them. Do you like Drake?
Me:
Before Y'all say anything, its not just white suburban people who think like that. Just look at some of the posts on this board (yes, I know most of it is white suburban kids), its people from all walks of life that think like this. How come in other genres the best music gets played on the radio? How come in other genres, people can say who they think the GOAT is, and people will repsect that and carry on a reasonable conversation about it, instead of wanting to argue you up and down and fight? How come when it comes to other music people can simply point out something musically that makes them think somebody is the best, yet in rap music, its all about swag/record sales/airplay/realness/popularity? And why do rap fans get offended to the point that they want to fight if you say their favorite rapper sucks?
