Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Breh, I used to work with this lady paying $3k a month with her husband for a damn studio! It was near PACE university, across from city hall.

In reality there is no such thing as expensive rent.

Rent only becomes expensive if it’s a burden on your monthly finances.

Yea that lady is paying 3K a month for a studio but if her and her husband are both making 6 figures or have a high income together than that 3K studio is only worth pennies to them.

The average renter in Manhattan especially in Midtown and Lower Manhattan can afford those rents easily.

I helped a dude who worked for google look for an apartment in Battery Park City and this guy made it seem like 3,000 for a one bedroom was a steal.

Obviously for me I thought he was on crack.

Well it's the best city in the world. Why would you expect it to be cheap?

Seems like Philly and Chicago are the two cities left with a lot going on that have ok pricing.

I was just checking home prices in Atlanta (the city limits) and some of the home prices are higher than locations in Queens.

For me I hate suburbs and rural living and couldn't imagine myself living somewhere I’m not comfortable at.

Just move down south brehs.

4 bedroom home. 1200 mortgage.

A lotta issues with this though.

The obvious one being jobs. Your bag gotta be secure before making that move. Also you gotta ease into it and know what you're getting into because the culture shock is gon hit you good depending on where you coming from and going to. Examples: Are you moving to the rural south? Southern city? Suburban southern area or small town? Man that decision to pack it up and ghost out is deep bruh. Another big change is adjusting from riding the metro/uber everywhere to being fully dependent on your car to get to where you need to go.

Good point because a lot of southern cities aren’t that cheap. Miami, Charleston, Atlanta, Austin and even Dallas aren't cheap in the city limits.

And then you got places like Memphis, Birmingham that are too messed up.

My fraternity brother splits rent with ways amd still pays 1200 a month in Brooklyn while i have a 4 bedeoom 2 and hald bath 2500 square ft house for 900 with flood imsurance here in MS :blessed:

Some places are only meant to visit and NY is one of them
But that's Mississippi though. Not the best place for scenery nor inspiration. Trust me I know. I visit my family in Greenville twice a year

@Chip Skylark lets be realistic here what opportunities are there in Mississippi for someone who wants a white collar position?

If it were available like that with similar salary your fraternity brother would have been there with you a long time ago.

Mississippi is cheap but also ranked as one of the worst states in the nation for many other issues.

My city 10th on the list :francis:
Unless it by Costa Mesa/South Coast Plaza, no area in Santa Ana should be worth $1700 per month :upsetfavre:. I lucky found a guesthouse studio for cheap when I had to move to SA for work three years ago. LA/OC rent prices are fukking crazy but these landlords know that they will always be someone willing to pay for it and they keep getting away it. But it's so hard to leave Southern California. You can find whatever you want out here, good and bad :youngsabo:.

:dahell: DO ALL THE BLACK PPL IN NYC LIVE IN THE PROJECTS?

HOW YALL AFFORDING THIS shyt?

Why do you cats keep saying this dumb sh*t? Why are you acting like black folks can't or don't have high paying salary jobs in NYC?

Anybody paying anywhere above $2000+ for a studio or 1 bedroom is more than likely living in Manhattan or one of the gentrified parts of Brooklyn or Queens.

If whatever you live in, cost more than 25% of your monthly income after taxes, then you are financially stupid.
