Its more to "safe" than murder's.
And If murders is the criteria they made this list on than how on Earth is Chicago even on the list...
Oh yea because just like NYC Chicago is highly populated in the millions too so the stats get watered down.
Lazy "Per capita" bullshyt.
The safest city in America is the city you can go basically anywhere without shyt poppin off ever.
Its numerous spots in NYC and Chicago thats dangerous.

Crime Stats - Historical - NYPD

they got pdfs there too, with 20 year stats.
Murder, assault, robbery, rape, stolen cars ... all down with the population going up. There's nothing to dispute. :dead:

see that's why i tell people not to fukk with apps like citizen. those things would have you thinking its 1990's crime level out here. everyone i know that have those apps swear it's a war zone out here.

Per capita is too misleading

A city like new York is not safer than a city like boise or Portland Maine

Meh, per capita stats are misleading especially for a city as populated as NYC.

Citizens App gives you the real especially in the hoods where you see some shyt is always going on in the vicinity.

That being said NYC is relatively safe for civilians you can walk practically anywhere at any time and the chances of you being a victim are not that high. Now if you’re involved in the life that’s a different story and there’s always a slight chance a mentally ill person or the wolves might victimize you.

per capita stats is exactly what's needed to compare high population cities with mid or low ones. Citizens bombard users with incidents without any broader context like per capita or historical trends. You'll see people on there going on about they have to get out of NYC while crime is at some of its lowest. It could have been good for block-by-block analysis but they don't even keep data that long.

Per capita puts everything on an equal ground, do nikkas not realize that? A hypothetical city of 4.5 million people that has 330 homicides isn't more violent than a city of 450,000 people that has 100 homicides. I dont see how people don't get this...

New York has large neighborhoods; Brownsville is considered by many to be one of the most dangerous in the city, if not THE most dangerous, and fluctuates between 11 and 20 murders per year, which is a rate between 15 and 30. It's a violent hood, and because Brownsville has ~65,000 people, it's gonna have more murders than most neighborhoods but the way you would compare Brownsville is by the per capita rate, to the per capita rate of hoods anywhere else...

Just saying "well Brownsville alone had 20 bodies last year" isn't saying anything, when there are neighborhoods of 5-10k people in other places with substantially higher rates...

New York is a safe city, but so are alot of other cities. New York isn't the safest city but is among the safest big cities. New York has plenty of hot areas, and so does everywhere else. No one neighborhood or block in NY is amongst the worst in the nation...

New York City Is Safer Than Ever, But The Citizen App Makes People Think It's A Hellscape
i've been telling people about how crime is actually down nationwide and it just seems more dangerous because we know about every little incident due to everybody having a camera and real-time communication device in their pockets now. White people especially are some of the main perpetrators of exaggerating "crime" rates. And yes when they say "crime" they just mean black people.

Large and small neighborhoods/cities shouldn’t be compared :manny:
