New York City FC’s haters have trolled them as a vagabond without a home, stuck playing in somebody else’s baseball stadium. But for NYCFC’s players, hailing from everywhere from Spain to Norway to New York, Sunday’s home opener in iconic Yankee Stadium is a moment they will remember — and savor — forever.

“It’s going to be one of those moments you have to look around and say, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I need to enjoy that,” coach Jason Kreis said. “Having said that, if you can [appreciate it] for three-to-five seconds, then realize you’re here for a job, that we can all really enjoy if we can walk away with three points in our pocket.”

Led by David Villa and Mix Diskerud, NYCFC got their first point in last Sunday’s inaugural game before a crowd of 62,000 at fellow expansion debutante Orlando City SC. Now they’re looking for their first ever win with roughly 40,000 expected for the home opener against New England (5 p.m., ESPN2).

Was at the game today, very fun experience, stadium was packed (43,507 was attendance if I remember correctly), I had my seats behind one of the corners. Definitely will be going to games in the future. Glad to be a part of history.

Villa goal :ohlawd:

Saunders is like a brick wall, only goal he's allowed the last 2 games was cause of a deflection :obama:

This was my view:

just temporary while they build their main one a few blocks away (it may be an issue since we ain't tryna pay for it)

caught this briefly. Good to at least have a new soccer team to adopt.

Those soccer pitch lines showing on the field during yankee games gonna look dumb :lolbron:

Typical "i aint got shyt to say cuz im mad" reply

:umad:

Retards upping an irrelevant 3 year old thread :camby:

Mad? I saw a great match at the Stadium tonight. You better work on that dap/post/rep ratio before you talk about “mad”. That’s something I’d be mad about first before going outta your way to reply to some thread that I upped.
