Yep. Apparently this is what's been happening:
The studios send out cease and desist lists of titles/movies/files or whatever, out to all of the newsgroup service providers requesting that the material be removed from their servers. If a file has been uploaded that was tagged as being on one of those lists, the newsgroup provider intentionally damages one of the 50+ files, rendering the file useless. We see the result as incomplete downloads/files (all they have to do is damage one rar file to make the total download useless. If you check the log of your newsgroup downloading client, the effected file will show a log of DMCA Takedown)). But where it gets tricky is the amount of time it takes a newsgroup provider to alter the file once the cease and desist request has been received. Some providers take their time and wait weeks before removing the file. Some take them down within hours. Astra used to be one of the providers that took their time removing the files. Now they are taking them down with the quickness. I've recently seen a file removed within 2 hours. I've found that some European providers take the longest time to remove files, because they are not on US soil.
So before you settle down on a provider do a search to see if they are quick to pull the trigger on DMCA tagged files.
