Did the the mayor really lean into defund the police and stop hiring police and cut the budget?


is there really droves of people moving away and business closing because nothing is being done about crime?


I know in Atlanta and DC carjackings and break ins are crazy. Im saying the same stuff in Oakland

It’s bad I haven’t worked there in a min but last time I was going to they told me it got worse and I couldn’t imagine that. I’ve seen some groups deep af to the point I didn’t want to leave the car fr pistol in hand head on a swivel. I wouldn’t recommend walking the trenches but the main city is ok.

Oakland also never defunded the police. They've increased the budget. Cops are lazy, and the county DA is seen as soft on crime and is about to get recalled.

I was out there a few years ago...what i noticed alot of was young fiends and homeless. Like fiends that are younger than 25. I know those the type of cats doing the property crime smashing car window shyt. I also stayed on Mission St in SF which was crazy because all the homeless. People beefing in the AM when they going to work cus they cant get out their door cus a homeless mf got all the shyt from his cart laid out. My people who still out there say its 10x worse now.

Idk about the gang shyt or the young robbing nikkas tho. Prob just adds on to the madness.

shyt’s all fukked up right now, and this is coming from some that grew up in Oakland during the 80’s and 90’s and spent a lot of time out there up until the early 2010’s or so. It used to be that as long as you had some situational awareness and gave everyone their respect you’d be perfectly fine in damn near any neighborhood as long as you had a legitimate reason to be there even if it was just to grab something from a liquor store. Youngsters these days no longer have any values and it’s pretty much open season on anybody, anywhere now which is a real shame because it used to be such a vibrant community whether it be for its culture, arts, or politics.

I went there October of last year. Went to Walgreens and an old lady walking out talking about “stay safe in here.”
