Very cool conversation, although I'd love to see them discuss this for longer with less of an official flair. I'd love to see Simon actually interview Obama. They're similar in terms of idealogy but Simon seems like quite a cynic about top down solutions. In some ways you could look at Carcetti as Obama. Whip smart but in over his head - not because he wasn't ready, but because the system is simply too sprawling to tame. And perhaps overly ambitious.

I do like seeing Rand Paul and Cory Booker work on this, hopefully something gets done.

Obama has literally changed political and social interaction with the office of the presidency. I've never imagined things would be like this to be honest.

Even his election campaign was a complete game changer.

I feel like the Wire has been so dissected to death over the years that this 15 min interview between BO and Simon was suffice..

But now that the president has given his two sense about what went on in The Wire, hopefully is opens the eyes of the politicians in the communities that can actually implement the change that they're talking about.


I feel you on that Carcetti analogy. That was spot on.

But in a weird way that almost every politician.. Obama just wears his emotions on his sleeve more then others
