Lets be honest with ourselves, there was a small inkling of Obama the Magical Negro early in his presidency.
Sincerely amongst some of his supporters and mockingly with his detractors...but no one cares about them tho
You gotta admit there were times when you wondered why he was never able to quickly fix some random problem before his enemies pounced. Why didn't he fix the healthcare website on time, why didn't he figure out Syria's byzantine tribal politics, why didn't he anticipate the tea party rebellion etc why why why didn't he do all these before republicans and their ilk turned them into political weapons
Whats forgotten is that Obama was a 1st time junior senator tasked to manage 4 million plus people while running a country, he was always knee deep in gators. But we thought, hey he headed the Harvard Law Review he'll do just fine
That is the essence of Obama the Magical Negro. This is not a defence but a reminder that Obama was basically a smart black guy with a massive ego and a slick mouth

i don't think he needs a defense. history will look back at him fondly. shyt all it took was for people to see what's coming next for his approval ratings to get close to 60.

Only thing magical about that Negro was the billion in reparations he facilitated towards Black and Native farmers for the Pigford II payouts, the largest federal settlement for civil rights violations that most black people and Americans in general are not familiar with sadly. My fam (mom's paternal side) are agronomists and were affected.

And he'll likely be the most recognizable and popular person on the planet for the next few decades. No matter who wins in November (spoiler alert: it'll be Hillary) people will quickly begin missing Obama.

Was he perfect? No. No president has been. But he did a pretty damn good job with the hand he was dealt. And the way history works, he'll get credit for a lot of stuff that he perhaps doesn't deserve credit for. Gay marriage being a big example of that.
