It will be legalized country wide at some point. The arguments against it are some of the same arguments that were placed against alcohol preceding and during prohibition. At some point there will be an influx of politicians that will see the waste of time and life that is the war on drugs. The country would profit more from marijuana sales than it would from locking folks up for it. This, like the end of prohibition, has to come down to money not morals. Morals don't really decide anything in this country at the top level, although he is right about it being safer than alcohol, notice how he has to tread so carefully to state that it's still a garbage drug and actually made a sly implication that it is akin to cigarettes, which is pure nonsense propaganda. 
It's true, many things can be dangerous if you don't have will power and self control, but marijuana is no more harmful than many things that are legal
