Read some stuff about Young Thug or other new rappers being the same thing as ODB. Haven't seen any side by side comparisons between ODB and Young Thug or another new rapper. Let's examine them album for album and compare whether they're similar or different.

ODB - Return to the 36 Chambers

Young Thug - The Carter 6

Gotta listen to The Carter 6 in full so I can give an honest comparison. Already listened to ODB's albums numerous times so no need to listen intensely to it again...If you've listened to both in full feel free to drop thoughts. Personally, you only hear basic tones if you think Young Thug or any new rapper is anything similar to ODB. On track 3 of Young Thug's mixtape now and it's interesting.

stop allowing these nikkas born after 93 to post threads....plz
I was born in 1980 and just putting on ODB's album for background music made me think about a bunch of comparison's I've seen between him and Young Thug from commenters or legit writers for music websites. Listening to each album 3 songs at a time now to see how I feel about each at my old age.

Decided to do a 3 song listen on each...Basically listen to 3 songs from one album and 3 songs from the other. After the first 3 songs I would say Young Thug's album sounds more cohesive and planned out. It doesn't seem like they left in anything that shouldn't be there vocally or beat wise...Basically no imperfections. ODB's first solo is like the exact opposite to this point. It feels like they purposely left in bad takes and parts that could've been done better. When it's all said and done though, the tracks work cause ODB's voice provides the energy to keep you listening. ODB didn't say a damn thing on track 2 but the cadence and switch up of the vocal tones keeps you going. On the opposite end, Young Thug didn't say anything remarkable on track 2 either but he kept me listening cause of the vocal tones....Only difference here is the vocals had harmonizing on them and the the whole song structure felt really structured to fit a pop song. I believe ODB went on for at least 60 bars in track 2 without a thought of any sort of hook.

First 3 tracks - ODB has the raw vocal tones that drive the track. Young Thug has the cadence and delivery that bring a beat to life. As far as actual lyrics, nobody's dropping life jewels here. Just braggadocio over beats with a lot of bass. Main difference so far is no vocal harmonizing or autotune on ODB's record.

ODB > The south

Come the fukk on man, even you don't believe that

I don't understand why YT is a movement...dude's best song is garbage. This example basically shows how being different could either be good or bad. ODB by galaxies.

Whatever you say duke. I have one of the more unbiased opinions than most, and for me to give up the South for just ODB would be moronic. God rest ODB's soul but that's a blatant bias if I've ever seen one.

Call it what you will. I would give up the entire south in a heartbeat for the first ODB album. It's just better.

Hahaha I guess we'll just agree to disagree...sorry man but I'll be a damn fool if I'd give up Coming Out Hard, Riding Dirty, The Diary for fukks sake and ATLiens for fukking Return to the 36 Chambers. If you said OB4CL, hell even Liquid Swords or Ironman, maybe I'd entertain that thought. There's no way in hell I believe that this is your opinion. Maybe I like the concept of variety too much.

Comin' Out Hard, breh? Really? This is where yall lose me. That album is so regional and crude. And I fux wit Ball & G once they hit their stride. I see you're from Houston though. Different worlds.
