It's the explosion that's the difference. Basketball leans more towards the stamina on the athleticism spectrum because they have to go up and down the court tons. Football is bursts for 15 seconds then pausing to gather up again. Being able to dunk is standard for any pro athlete.

Here's a video with Josh McCown (a QB) dunking on folks - NFL Fan Pass: Ballin' with Boldin
they said Walter Payton used to dunk like it was nothing.
With that said, Odell is one of the freakish athlete we've seen in the last 20 years bro.

I don't know if NFL players are inherently more athletic than NBA players. I just think basketball players don't work nearly as hard in the gym on their explosiveness as football players since they need to play more minutes per game in more games more frequently, don't need to take car crash level physical contact, and are way ahead of their competition by simply being tall and coordinated. Long story short, I think in terms of physical ability very few NFL players could make it in the NBA but a large number of NBA players could hit the weights and play football.

I think a lot of basketball players are too soft to play high level football though. Charles Barkley mentions how the worst day of his life was the day he played football.

barry just trotting to the cup and dunking at 5'8'':wow:

barry sanders dunking at 5'8 is mind-blowing. especially since he weighs 208!:mindblown:

imagine if he slimmed down to the weight of a guy normal for his height. 170-180. he'd be flying to the rim:banderas:

U.S-based Colleges and universities import foreign Africans strictly because of their height and convert them into big centers for their basketball teams. Their basketball skills, IQ, are not evaluated. Their height alone makes them eligible for basketball scholarships. The scouts notice their height and its a wrap.

In the sport of Basketball you can afford to be average as fukk if you're really, really tall, like 6.5.+ and up.

Height compensates largely for below average or average ball handling skills, basektball IQ, situational awareness, shooting skills, speed, physicality and agility. You can be average or slightly below average in those areas if you are freakishly tall, in the NBA.
You can't be below average in the NBA at 6'5 breh. Maybe once you get into the 7' region. 6'5-6'9 certainly aren't going to make up for all of those weaknesses you listed.
