The Montgomery Police Department is actively working to terminate a police corporal after he or she used racially insensitive language when speaking to a Montgomery Public School student.
School and law enforcement officials say the incident happened during school hours on September 3, and it was witnessed by individuals at an unnamed school.
MPS spokesperson, Tom Salter confirms the school system reported the incident to MPD. After MPD learned of the alleged conversation, the officer was removed from the school and assigned to administrative duties. Another officer was immediately sent to the school as a replacement to continue duties at the school.
Officials with the Montgomery Police Department say the Office of City Investigations is looking into the allegations. The officer will remain on administrative duties pending conclusion of both the investigation and disciplinary procedures.
Authorities are not releasing any other details about the incident, including the location of the school, at this time citing an ongoing investigation involving personnel matters.
