my dad is a deputy, a lot of cops have to work off duty jobs just to survive because cities and counties don't pay them worth a damn, I know a ton of cops aren't the greatest reps of the badge but I still hate to hear of any officer being gunned down in a cowardly way like that.

Officer Dies After Being Shot in Back at Waffle House
By GILLIAN MOHNEYJun 1, 2014, 1:30 PM
A Georgia police officer has died after being shot in the back while trying to arrest a woman for disorderly conduct outside a Waffle House in Spalding County, officials said today.

Officer Kevin Jordan, 43, was killed on Saturday as he worked the security detail at the Waffle House. According to police, three people who appeared to be intoxicated entered the restaurant and started to make a loud disturbance. After being asked to leave, Chantell Mixon continued to be disruptive in the parking lot, police said.

When Jordan attempted to arrest Mixon for disorderly conduct, her boyfriend Michael Bowman allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Jordan several times in the back.

Police said Jordan's brother, Raymond Jordan, happened to be visiting and saw the shooting. After seeing his brother get shot, Raymond Jordan reportedly pulled out his own gun and shot Bowman, critically injuring the 30-year-old.

Both Jordan and Bowman were taken to a local hospital, where Jordan was declared dead. Bowman was listed in critical but stable condition with a shattered jaw today, according to police.

Raymond Jordan told ABC News affiliateWSB-TV in Atlanta, Ga., that the three disruptive diners were drunk and had no respect for the officer.

"The only regret -- I don't want to be bitter -- the only regret I have is I didn't kill him," Raymond Jordan told WSB-TV about Bowman.

Raymond Jordan had a permit to carry a fire arm and has been cleared by police.

According to the Griffin Police Department, Jordan was a four-year veteran of the force and father of seven. Funeral plans were still pending.

Bowman and Mixon were both charged with murder, while Bowman's younger brother, Tyler Taylor, who was the third person in the group, was charged with disorderly conduct.
