My hope for 2017 is to be paid solely through a 1099 and just pay quarterly estimated taxes. I was a realtor for part most of the year and the amount of things I could write off was awesome (I attended a webinar that guided me). I did some W2 work and paid way more in taxes than I needed so that helped with the amount as well. I also used TurboTax small business and along with the fee for paying with my refund it was like $130. I can write that amount off too.

I got back $7k.
