amazingly, I almost watched the first episode of this earlier today out of sheer boredom. It held pretty high internet esteem, but I've kinda fallen away from anime.

May just give it a shot.

Yeah, I watched it.

Got up to episode 4 before I realized I was marathonning it so I stopped.

It almost feels like a modern successor to Gurren Lagann.

Don't insult Gurren Lagann like that, breh. I know you better than this.

I get the Deku/All-Might relationship is a bit like Simon/Kamina but it really does not compare.

You should be watching Space Patrol Luluco just because the references alone will leave you slumped up in an alleyway.:whew:

I mean, it doesn't have Gurren Lagann's sheer ":gladbron:
:gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron::gladbron:" factor.

I'm just saying underlying theme and lookwise, it feels similar to how TTGL felt early on.

Maybe "spiritual successor" was the wrong term to use.

dude. Let me put it this way.

If I had kids, they would watch an episode of Gurren Lagann a day from the time they could hold their heads up to the time they could decide for themselves not to.

And they would conquer this goddamned world.

yeah, if you do start, just give it 3 or 4 episodes to find itself.

from there, it's>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

By episode 8 or 9, every time you watch you're gonna feel like a coked up Tony Montana.

It's pretty much the most motivational anime of all time. The whole show operates on the logic that you can achieve anything if you just believe in yourself, and it follows that logic to the point of utter insanity. Or, as the show's famous quote goes:
