just do all those daily quest from xander just pick all of them up... then when you get the taken king those story quest will get you some good exp... i lv twice during the lv 25 mission when i did it after i killed the final boss.

just did my first two heroic strikes on my first one i had to carry the whole damn team... not one person had a 260 light but me... got us to the final boss but shyt was to much for me the handle... got him half health until he just summoned yellow mobs... why do these fukkbois try to do heroic strikes with light levels of 240s? and my 2nd one was easy both my teammates had a light lv of 257 it was still hard but we did it @GoldenGlove

the raid drops are frustrating at times....ran hard last night, and basically i got shards and/or lesser light levels of shyt i already had (gauntlets, chest piece)...while the weak link of the group, kept getting good shyt...he got 320 boots, a 318 rocket launcher, and some other 315+ shyt, smh.....
