I still love the show, still get hyped for Sundays, will still miss it when it's over, and I still think it's overall one of the greatest TV shows ever..

But they dropped the ball on the night king and the writing has gotten terrible since they ran out of source material.

I don't get why so many people are upset at that opinion.
I think it's a valid opinion, but IMO, it makes no sense to still be crying about it since it's been the case for 2.5-3 seasons. Season 5, they fukked up dorne...yea, cry about it, season 6 they made tyrion an idiot, ok, be mad...then they announced we got 13 episodes left over seasons 7 & 8, that seemed like a great time to either jump ship or simply realize the show isn't going to get back to it's early form and they're likely to rush shyt (as we cried about in season 7), but just go for the ride and see how they end it.

That's what I'm doing now, seeing how they end this shyt. no doubt it could be better, but when the actual author of the series has written himself into circles he can't even unravel, I'm not sure why you'd expect outsiders (no matter how close to the series, they're still just fanboys who made the show happen) to wrap the series with grace and perfection.

But the reason we still mad about it is because it's gotten progressively worse. Dorne was bad, the adventure beyond the wall was retarded, but the night king fizzling out after 7 seasons of buildup is just cringe worthy. Dorne and other smaller things never bothered me more than just to say "that was stupid LOL" but this last episode was next level stupidity.

I'm with you though, at this point I'm just waiting to see how they wrap it up. Definitely put the majority of the blame on grrm for not finishing his own work and letting a TV show have their way with it.

I will say the political players that we took seriously(Olenna, Tywin, Littlefinger) weren't really replaced with anyone, and that's a shame

In real history those types of figures are always replaced by people more efficient and effective. We'll see how he handles it in the books
The only other one who could be considered (Varys) hasn’t done shyt for 3 seasons. Don’t even know why he is on the show anymore except for writers to drop in the occasional dikk and ball jokes.

NO ONE

That's the point. Total and complete annihilation of mankind. Scorched Earth policy.
What does that have to do with bran though?

That’s the point. Humanity is dead, not because bran is dead but because humanity is literally dead.

I still don’t grasp why it was so necessary for the night king to immediately get out there and kill bran himself.

If bran dies and then Arya kills the night king how is the world now doomed still?
And what does it matter if the night king kills bran now or just adds his death to the rest of humanity’s annihilation?

Seriously, why the fukk is bran so important?

i guess i can't expect people to have thought like me, but like i said, after the progressive falloff in writing for multiple seasons, especially for characters who were once great, paired with them telling us they were wrapping it in 13 episodes, i fully expected a rush job. from jump i had zero faith in 13 episodes being enough to wrap this series, no matter how many 60+ minute episodes they promised us. that was enough to make me set my expectations lowwwwwww :francis:

this is why i wanted to fireslap the poster who told me these hollywood folks can write just as easily as GRRM for these characters...they can't. varys, LF and Tyrion have all fallen off a cliff because they don't know how to write for them. i think they fumbled bran something serious because they don't know how to write for him paired with GRRM not having figured out these storylines himself.

people want to call it stanning, but i call it realistic expectations/knowing limitations. you can't expect the same quality from these hollywood dudes who jump from project to project as you would a literary author who spends basically their entire life immersed in one genre, and more specifically the fictional world they've authored.

That freeze frame shot of Dany about to get power tackled by 5 wights only to cut back later and she's fine:mjlol:

Sam sitting there crying and the dead don't touch him:gucci:

Jon not lighting the trench even though he's right next to it:dahell:

Episode was an absolute mess when you break it down. Not just the writing but the editing.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
It's "A song of Fire and Ice", it was coming down to Dany and Jon (or at least Targ and Stark) was predictable from jump. :comeon:

If that's all you can predict, it really ain't that predictable:stopitslime:
That's all anybody cares about is the point.. we got 3 eps left and it's pretty much already wrapped up.. They could have shifted this shyt around, tv wise, to make better of this

I don't think the writers thought it through.
We just got stans juelzing hard to make sense of it :russ:

Show peaked when everyone was in King's Landing. Back when #LannisterSet ran things.
Was an epic episode though.

They better explain what the fukk Bran was doing the entire time. Was he manipulating the past, doing a Dr.Strange a looking at possible futures?

This thread is exactly what happens when people get emotionally attached to their own ideas. Prolly been running around for years yapping about their theories to all of their friends and family....acting like they really knew what's what. Then when nothing happened the way they predicted, they feel like some dummies :mjlol:......this is what happens when you become self absorbed in your own ideas. You start to feel entitled to them and get embarrassed when they don't pan out. That's why it's best to sit back and just let the shyt play out on it's own.

And muthafukkers bringing up breaking bad like that shyt wasn't even more fantasy than game of thrones :heh:.......that whole finale was ridiculous. Took out all the bad guys with a sentry gun:mjlol:.....placed inside the trunk of a car they just allowed to be parked right in front of their office without searching it......yea that makes sense:mjlol:.......breaking bad had just as many plot holes and ridiculous bullshyt as thrones did. If not more. :camby:

The writers of this show brought up "Breaking Bad".

'Game of Thrones' Showrunners Aiming for 'Breaking Bad' Levels of Greatness With Finale

Regardless of how you personally feel "BB" (including it's finale) is considered a milestone in prestige dramas. The writers of "GOT" said they hope to reach that level of quality.

Judging by last Sunday's episode, it doesn't seem likely.

As far as the rest of your post....

If fan theories not panning out was enough to get people to turn on the show, nobody would've watched past season 1. Because nobody (except book readers) expected Ned to die.

There's literally dozens of examples of this in the series. The Red Wedding, Oberon dying, Tywin dying, etc.

The foundation of the whole series is subverting fan expectations. There's two ways to do that though....with great writing, or with lazy writing. Sunday's episode was the latter.

I mean....let's keep it real here. They threw 7 seasons worth of lore in the bushes in favor of an action sequence....if your major takeaway from that is "fans are upset because they had theories and expectations"....that's an unprecedented level of stanning.

Fred.
