the reason why Dany is rushing to get this shyt sewn up is because Snow is the rightful heir. She knows that nobody in the north is fukking with her and she knows that if these people ever find out that Jon is the rightful heir her days in Westeros are OVER. She will never claim the throne if the word gets out.

So many people in here are saying the plan is dumb. It's not dumb, it's rushed. It's rushed because Dany needs it to be rushed and there are people who could have advised her better but Snow shut all that down in the war room meeting because he was trying to show his loyalty to her.

Sansa questioned her. Everyone is tired. We need to rest. Jon said "nope" because he don't want to sit on the throne. It's best for him if Dany is on the throne, he don't want to be king.. this isn't new.

People wanna act like all these characters went against their previous motivations. Where did they go against their motivations? I'm tagging you @O.Red because you were most vocal against what I've said.. so explain to me what I got wrong :manny:
I ain't mad at anything you said in that post:manny:

For the most part character motivations don't bother me, it's the execution that causes dumb ass inconsistency that bothers me

Shyt like the ridiculous timing of the ambush in addition to Dany being literally above everything and managing to not see a fleet of ships. Or the cheap cliffhangers in the last episode.

Similar issues with the Mad Queen angle they're trying to run with Dany that's not consistent with the moves she's made. Play some different music over her shyt and she ain't much different than anybody else. But she's poising to be as bad as her dad??? The talk of tyrants and destiny is a decent save but it still leaves her being put in the tyrant box with no real justification.

Point A-B don't bother me as much. It's the road they're taking that's the problem.

And I'm :dead: at "GRR Martin told them how it ends!"....they had the books to go off of and he still passive aggressively criticized the show when it fukked up the source material.

His own editor shyt on the direction of the show 3 years ago:

NY Daily News - We are currently unavailable in your region

So just because he told them how it ends =/= they're following what he said. It's their interpretation of the info, same as anything else.

I don't know what people expect him to say though, with 6 episodes left. "Yeah, this shyt is trash"....? He still has a contract with HBO and makes money off the show.

You can always just turn off the show and wait for the books to finish.:yeshrug:

So are we I guess this is just going to be the default state of this thread? Why not close it? No one here gives a shyt and it's trash right? Why is it still up? :dahell:

Time investment? Who gives a shyt if your watching something that sucks now because you've been doing it for 8 years and you feel like your obligated to watch it than your fukking stupid. Imagine me wasting 80 minutes of my time doing something I legitimately dislike no matter how I felt about it in the past. :dahell:

And as far as the Starbucks cup....I don't care, and neither should any of you. There is dozens of reasons to criticize this season, a simple production mistake isn't one of them. Yeah it's funny and dumb but it's happened in damn near every TV show and/or movie in existence at one point or another. The "LOTR" movies had a gang of stuff like this.

Fred.
i actually do think that's worth criticizing when cinematography/editing is the reason for the long layoff :ld:

What are your main problems with it? Everyone is saying the writing.. Yeah, it's rushed. But what are your main problems? What are the specifics of your gripes?

I let shyt like "why didn't Cersei just kill Dany" slide because that's every movie that has ever existed.. Why didn't the bad guy kill Will Smith and Martin Lawrence when he had the chance? I can do that about any movie ever
Lets not dumb it down. The current focus on this page is "why didn't Cersei kill Dany" but its not because a character did something dumb - mistakes by characters happen and that's part of any story. The problem is that its wildly outside of established character, solidified themes, and ignores the current scope of events in the story.

Cersei is one of the most deliberate and savage opportunists in the show. It makes no sense to spare Dany. But worse, it truly appears in the show that those weren't even the stakes at hand. We're shown a vulnerable, small army staring at vastly superior numbers and weapons and no one on the screen even shows a hint of understanding the situation when a few seasons ago people would be shytting themselves. Ok.... keep it going. Then you have people arguing multiple sides of "Dany shouldn't burn down KL" at length. Its absurd. War is supposed to be clean now? Since when? Its one thing to reflect and misunderstand previous context but even less than 30 minutes prior Jon "Honorable" Snow says he's ready to starve them out - as if that's somehow better than being killed.

There's numerous conflicts up and down this one episode. Jamie fukking Lannister was allowed to walk out of Winterfell without so much as paying his bar tab. No escort, did as he pleased, and even got to fukk couple of times. Jon can keep the secret of his resurrection and even convince those around him to downplay it as best they can because he doesn't want to be a hero or lord - but he can't shut up about his lineage at all and the moment he gets even slight resistance in conversation he tells anyone.

Then you've got past stuff just throw in the bushes. Sansa has never respected Jon and you'd think that it'd be a scene worth having, since we're just throwing character left/rights to the wind, to show her reaction the family b*stard being the person on the throne - especially considering how she was ready to throw her entire family away to be Joffrey's trophy wife. Development can still exist but instead they emphasize dumb shyt like Hound not wanting p*ssy. There's tons of shyt that doesn't sit right that has nothing to do with "how did x army move so fast" but to say that Varys has a bad read on Dany's character after spending so much time spying on her before she was even relevant is just asinine and shows clear lack of fukks given by the writers.

Obviously I and others can go on... but if you want to dismiss stuff for the sake of dismissing it then cool but lets not pretend that this is people just hating to hate. :manny:

The same way cersei could have killed them Dany could have had her dragon come from behind and light them all up. They were discussing surrender so they both respected the ceasefire. No reason to nitpick every little thing
What is there to discuss though? Both sides should know by now, none is ever going to surrender. Last time they parlayed Cersi lied to their face about sending her army north. They going to trust anything she says now?:gucci:

You just gonna ignore season 7 when she ignores Tyrion and burned the tarlys alive, just like her dad did the Starks.
She gave them a choice and they chose poorly.
Plus this was after Tyrion had already shown that his advice in battle against his brother and sister wasn't worth shyt.
Plus Papa Tarly had pledged allegiance to House Tyrell and made the heel turn by joining up with Cersei and helping Jamie sack Highgarden.
He wasn't some innocent civilian, he got what he deserved. Traitors get the death penalty.

Having a contract with HBO doesn't stop him from saying the endings are gonna be different.

In his latest interview he clearly said the show can't capture every detail, they'd need 5 more seasons to come close. As a result secondary & minor characters will have things altered in their finish but the main characters will reach the same final destination. Jon, Daeny, Cersei, etc aren't gonna end episode 6 doing something they're not in Georges finish.

Now, if you don't like the route being taken there by the show, then by all means that's a valid criticism. Under normal circumstances Euron ambushing them, taking down Viserion and capturing Missandei would've ended one episode, and then Missandei being a hostage, Varys & Tyrion digesting the Snow news, and Missandeis death would've ended the next.

D&D and HBO set that 70-75 hour limit at the start of this story and refused to call an audible despite it becoming a massive success and George's books getting lapped. Even stretching things out one more season would've greatly benefitted everything.
