Was wondering: why is Varys so against Dany and Jon being married?

Jon will temper Dany’s worst impulses, while Dany will help Jon in not getting played because of his sense of honor.

Together, they can unite the 7 kingdoms and bring a good amount of peace. They’ll even have influence in Essos due to Dany’s journey there.

Varys is concerned that Dany would manipulate Jon, but Sansa is already doing that anyway and it’s causing lots of tension in their battle to take our Cersei. Jon doesn’t want to rule, so whoever will become Jon’s bride will have a major influence in Jon’s decision making and may even call a lot of shots, so why not Dany? Dany has shown over and over again that she is willing to heed people’s advice, so why won’t she listen to Jon in key moments?

As for the Aunty stuff, this is a show in which siblings are fukking. We are long past this stage of fukkery. At least the Dany/Jon relationship and/or rule won’t be toxic. :yeshrug:
I think it's a control issue. I believe Varys wants someone he can control and manipulate and he's learning that Dany can't be as easily controlled. Jon is looked at as dumb so if he's in control and Varys is near him then he has a chance to manipulate him to his needs.

:laff:

He did bring the heat for True Detective though, I'll give him that.
He knows his shyt without a doubt. I'll give him that which is why I tolerate him on Talk the Thrones. But that dude overlaughs everything and has one of those loud over the top laughs that makes it even worse. Then the overkill of the impressions. If he just dialed it back some he'd be fine.

I get it but even if this season was ten episodes it would still be incredibly difficult to properly pace this story. There are so many other stories that take precedence and a lot of other important things happening off-screen that should be on screen, I think they’re kind of justified for pushing this story along.

The pacing issues stared in S7. S7 should have been no less than 9 episodes and S8 should have been a full 10.

True, Varys has his own agenda.

If Varys was truly all about “the realm”, then linking up Dany and Jon makes sense. Far from ideal but it’ll def unite the 7 kingdoms and bring some peace.

Varys know Jon not gonna fukk with her now he know she’s his aunt. shyt is cool for targs in history, but the north don’t move like that and even Cersei and Jamie hid that shyt all show.

I’m sure everybody sees how he’s treating her. Episode 2 when she tried to embrace him and he pretty much shoved her to the side was clear

Varys also a piece of shyt

i still only really fukk with bald move...binge mode hosts voices annoy me and i tried another this week and they started going off on the "heteronormative" hookups going on in winterfell, had to :snooze:

people nitpicking from the view of modern social issues in GOT don't make sense to me, that goes to the overreaction of killing missandei, to those who feel like they have too much femme power, to those who are all "why do they have the women being bytchy and fighting"...as if the men don't. that's my line in the sand for GOT criticism, full stop at trying to abstract the culture of a medieval TV to today's real life :why:

What parts of the episode did you enjoy?:jbhmm:

Tyrion, Varys, Dany getting humbled, Cersei flexing.

I know the bad is a mountain compared to the molehill of good, but I caught the ep. late Wednesday. No point rehashing what y'all covered in 70+ pages (50ppp) since Sunday. :whew:
