Well brehs, had to start a clean slate.

That Divisional game between the Bills and Chiefs was amazing to watch, but I couldn’t help but feel a bit down too. It made me realize how far away this team is from contending. The whole weekend actually.

So at this point of their tenure, the rose-tinted color glasses have come off for Ballard and Reich. Ballard has such a fixation on trench-play, and yet our pass rush is still facing the same problems from when he first got hired. Zero division titles since 2014. A QB carousel and laughing stock of the league after letting Howie finesse him. Bible Boyz not on the same page. Man, do we have some work to do.

Ballard thinks this team is on its way to becoming the 2019 49ers when it’s really just a poor man’s 2019 Titans.

Blame Andrew Luck. Thats what abruptly retiring during whats spose to be the prime of your career does. Damn shame he didn't love football like some of these bum qbs.
Oh no doubt. I hate putting blame on Luck, but the timing couldn’t have been any worse and it was a significant blow to the organization. Ballard deservedly got a Get Out of Jail free card for that season, but not having a pass rush and bottom-tier WR corps still is a head scratcher.

I love blaming Luck. I don't think he gets enough blame. Its how he handled it. Going through all those drills and oractices knowing he was retiring. The ski shyt that reinjured his shoulder. He got off light. Too light.

I’m over it man.

I was never sold on Rivers last year, didn’t like giving up on Brissett the year before (although he was disappointing) and Wentz is who we thought he was.

If we ever get a high performing QB I think we can contend but who knows when that’ll be. Taylor has been a godsend but the rest of the team godawful. Idk why our WR corps is so bad too. This team is constructed like a bytch with botched BBL, lopsided and rough as hell around the edges.

We should’ve beat the damn Jags regardless, Luck would spanked them :unimpressed:

I don’t think Irsay gets enough blame for prolonging Grigson’s stay. I get that he wants to be loyal, but look at what that cost him.

Yes, there’s a high likelihood of Luck retiring regardless even if he ended up with protection back in 2016, but what good does keeping the same regime do at that point?

Luck didn’t seem to live and breathe football in the way that players like Peyton and Favre do. That’s not even shade, that’s just how he operated. It shouldn’t have been surprising to see him prioritize his long-term health over the vicious game.

While we weren’t winning anything significant under Philip, the team was cool to root for. Also, Rivers was actually a GREAT leader. The Wentz trade flipped everything on its head.

You bring up this team to a non-Colts fan and there’s always that pause, that hesitation in whether to root for us or not, because of our current QB.

There was a stretch during the offseason where we legit couldn’t go one week without negative, national media attention.

Is Wentz staying?
At least until 2023. Ballard/Reich intended on getting two seasons out of him, honestly I’m not opposed to giving him a full offseason.

Grigson was the worst hire for a potential perennial playoff team in some time. That shyt set us back a decade.

I agree with you. Losing Luck is an almost impossible situation to deal with but Ballard has been messing up. Why extend Brissett, then dump him so quickly? Is Brissett the answer? No. But had we rolled with him for 2020 and maybe even 2021 we'd be in a better position now. There was no point paying Rivers, he is not good enough to elevate this team. Ballard was too scary to overpay for Stafford, so he overpays for Wentz instead? Eagles had no leverage and no one else seriously wanted Wentz. Why do they have our first?

Brissett is perfectly capable of delivering 0 divisional titles and 0 playoff wins, plus he comes with the bonus of not costing draft picks/position.

Can Indy win with Wentz? Yes, but you need a perfect supporting cast. Ballard hasn't been handling his business though, so the rest of the roster isn't strong enough to support a clown like Wentz.

I like Ballard, but he has to stop half assing this QB thing. There are very few real franchise QBs. You either gotta overpay or gamble in the draft.
