Official Women's Basketball Thread - WNBA 2025 Season

Sabrina's only played in 1 regular season game. The season just started.

Most reputable WNBA player rankings have Sab over Aliyah. Aliyah doesn't even have any All-WNBA team selections yet (maybe that will change this year).

Also, my eyes aren't deceiving me. Sabrina during the first half of the 2024 season was on a tear (MVP/near-MVP level). She averaged 23.2 PPG on 42% shooting and picked up Stewie's slack during that time. Unfortunately, she went into a slump in the second half of 2024 after the Olympic break.

And like I said earlier, the Liberty would NOT have made the 2024 Finals without Sabrina. She played great in the first 2 rounds (except Game 3 against LV, but that was also a bad game for the entire team). The only thing that's missing for Sab is a great overall Finals performance.

She did start hot last year but she has been mid since. She was trash in the finals. I know it’s only been one game this year but I’m saying she hasn’t been impactful for months.

Fiebich was more impactful in a good portion of the playoffs last year than Sabrina was on both ends (Sabrina is a slow footed cac so if she ain’t scoring she ain’t helping) and if LF and JJ didn’t pickup Sabrina and Stewie’s slack; NYL would’ve lost.

Most top players would get obliterated for these types of performances let alone a “top 7” player. The media loves to prop her up which is part of the reason why she gets those selections and nods, but she’s yet to have a complete and impressive season from start to finish imo

I've already said that she needs to have a solid Finals performance. That's the only missing piece in her resume.

Also, once again, Sabrina was the MVP for the Liberty in the first 2 rounds. She led the Liberty in scoring until the Finals (including 36 points to close out the Dream in Round 1 and 24 to close out the Aces in Round 2). She was the top scorer for the Libs in 3 out of their first 6 playoff games (not to mention her assists).

Sab does need to be a little more consistent and not go into some long slumps, but she's still a top player.

I'd just like to add that aside from that logo game winner she hit in the Finals, the Lynx shut down Sabrina almost every single time they played the Liberty last season. It's a terrible match-up for her.

What? That doesn't mean that Sabrina is not a top 20 player. That's ridiculous.

Sabrina is a 3x All-Star and 3x All-WNBA 2nd team (one of those should be 1st team). Last season until the Olympic break, she was playing at a near-MVP level and was huge for the Liberty because Stewie wasn't playing that well. Also, until the Finals, she was the Liberty's playoff MVP. NY doesn't make the 2024 Finals without Sabrina.

Sabrina is definitely a top 20 WNBA player.
