so wouldn't it make sense to just draft whoever and trade for whoever hoping they get "used to it" as well?

But in this case, that team got burned by trying to do just that with Marbury so anyone that dismisses that city as a possibility doesn't get considered no matter how good they are, and we've seen how that's worked out.
But a true superstar wont stay there unless u pay him more than anyone else. If Garnett's salary was capped back then, he woulda bounced too

and this is based on what?

1. it's not a guarantee that if you pay him more than anyone else he'll stay (ex. Love-- not a superstar, I know, but still)

2. Not everybody is Marbury and wants to jump out of a good situation at all costs. KG proved that. If what you're saying is that they gotta pay more of a premium to keep people happy in order to stay there, tell me something I don't know.

Until it becomes a major market and than leads agents to suggest players go there for sponsorships (big market = more eyes on the game = ppl susceptible to advertisements = $$$), it's still gonna be hard to convince ppl to come.

Let's not even get on the actual basketball aspect. Cleveland was managed horribly when Lebron was there ( No JJ Hickson for Amare) (Mo Williams ass :troll:'s #2).

Bolded isn't true and the Cavs traded Damon Jones for Mo Williams which was a good trade even if he was the 2nd scoring option. Lebron gave up in his last year too. Tried to do that phantom elbow injury at the free throw line when he's never been injured more than 5 games in his career.
