And how come they never get fired or reprimanded?

I'm talking about how sometimes these clowns will speculate about what the front office is thinking or planning.

Who leaks that info? And why dont they get fired for doing so? I mean I know other GM's that a team contacts for deals will leak the info but whats in it for them? Is there cash involved or is this in exchange for information?

And what do the players get out of leaking info?

My guess is it's usually agents that leak deals & and the front office leaks trades to try and get another team to jump in and offer more

I think in a lot of cases it's the team throwing news out to get a feel for how their fanbase reacts.

a lot of times the "leaks" are done on purpose, to either gauge public reaction from the fanbase and others, and also to throw smokescreens out there to try to act like theres interest and a market for a certain player

dont snitch

Nah for real man.

I'm here doing some work at the crib today (car in the shop so working from home today) and the TV was on mute. I look up and see Rick Buecher (sp) flapping his gums and see the prompts says its about Dwight Howard.

I tell the person i was talking to to hold on and turn up the Tv and hear this cat talking about how the Nets had set themselves a deadline for getting Howard and their intentions today is to go to LA speak to the agent and decide wether to sign Lopez and keep him or trade him today. Like.. how do they know all this for sure?

I know the NFL does this on purpose of course for many reasons but the NBA isnt as complicated as the NFL in terms of management so i dont see the purpose of all these mind games. Unless they trade inside info with these analysts?

Thing is what is THEIR motivation?

I mean these "analysts" make serious money usng this info. Why give it for free. I can see GM's using information and misinformation for their own gain but why do players leak sh!t? Are the analysts paying them?

Alot are must made up bullshyt by writers/journalists as well. Trust. One of my college homies is Asst GM of the Suns and :russ: @ some of the shyt I ask him involving his team. While many are legit, alot of it is indeed agents and smokescreens too.

The motivations vary from person to person. It might be to help leverage a better deal for their client, it might be to get a coach fired, it might be to sully the reputation of a player in the midst of a contract negotiation, it might be as simple as having that particular writer cut them some slack in a particular situation or hold back on a compromising situation.

And, this always seems to be overlooked, there might not be any sources at all and the story is pure bullshyt. You ever wonder why in practically every case where a coach gets fired, it starts with the team losing, sources say there is internal strife on the team, sources say coach wants star player gone, sources say star player wants coach gone or wants to be fired, coach gets fired? It never struck y'all as odd that that's pretty much the formula? I honestly believe sometimes the media sees the potential for a story so when that long losing streak occurs, a source is gonna say there's internal strife whether there is or there isn't and whether that source exists or not. With the story now in the paper, paranoia reigns because as far as the player or coach knows, the story might be true and it's the other guy going to the front office to complain instead of coming to them directly. The story writes itself after that.

More often than not, sources are usually related to the players (either the players themselves, agents, teammates, friends in the know, etc.) involved. GM's and Player Personnel Departments are more cautious about what gets out to the press.
