Old Cash Money's unique regional sound.

I like listening to old Cash Money records, I'm talking 1993-1998 Cash Money. Groups like UNLV, rappers like BG, Pimp Daddy, Tec-9(of UNLV) all had very regional New Orleans sounding tracks. Mannies old production was pretty soulful. BG's 1996 album chopper city was especially soulful, considering BG was only 16 when it dropped. But in general, old Cash Money's regional sound was pretty dope. Listening to those songs actually felt like they took you to NO:

















I know Soulja Slim's No Limit, but the stuff I posted was before he was signed to No Limit.

I'm a huge stan for any CMR from like 95-2000ish...theres some ok stuff after that but really 96-99 was all amazing and classic to me.

It's the organs and the keys that used to be VERY prominent on those older tracks, that make them sound so NO. Those keys, sometimes guitars, just all around very Southern sounding. They didn't sound like they were trying to copy other regions.

BG's "So Much Death" might be one of my all-time favorite Cash Money records. Chopper City was such a great album. Those keys on this track though. BG being 16 talking about all the death surrounding him. So much soul on this track:

Birdman stay's putting dimes on people's heads. That's why UNLV stopped messing with Birdman. Why haven't Tec-9 and Lil Ya retaliated?
