Chuck Phillips connected the murders to Von Zip in 2008 in a front page LA Times article that blew up the internet and became news itself. He got details wrong and had to later retract it.

Greg Kaeding followed up with his book in 2011 that also connected Von Zip to the murders.

Von Zip’s name has been connected to this murder for damn near 15 years now.
